Michel JAKOBIEC is the Honorary Director of the Music Conservatory of the City of Tournai. He completed his piano studies there with great distinction in the class of Master André DUMORTIER.
At the same time as scientific and pedagogical studies, he obtained a higher diploma in opera singing with great distinction at the Royal Conservatory of Mons, where he became a teacher of vocal training for students in singing and speaking arts classes for many years.
Always very interested in pedagogy, he will gradually concentrate more on teaching Music Education in place of Science Teaching. This musical education will have an emphasis on secondary schools and training of future teachers and specialized educators at the Ecole Normale de l’ Etat in Tournai) and singing at the Tournai Conservatory.
An Active member of the Choral Commission of the Musical Confederation of France, baritone soloist and recognized choirmaster, he is behind many musical projects combining the participation of amateur choirs with orchestras and young soloists with renowned conductors (Musique des Guides, Lille Orchestra, Bolshoi Orchestra, etc.).
Founder of French national pedagogical courses for choral conducting, he is co-author of the book “The Repertoire of The Amateur Mixed Choir”.
He is often requested as a member or president of the jury in many international choir competitions.
